Laboratory Room(s):
EAS 3270
Area: 300 sq. ft.
Mission:
Students are instructed in experimental data
reduction methods, error analysis, and the
fundamental operation of instruments used to
measure force, torque, strain, temperature,
linear and rotational motion.
Equipment:
The laboratory has six laboratory stations,
each equipped with the following:
Oscilloscope.
Digital Multi-meter.
Signal Generator.
Power Supply, 3 output with regulation.
Strip Chart Recorder with various measurement modules.
Hot plate and beakers.
Cantilever beam with strain gage.
Thermometer and thermocouples.
Electrical breadboard, components, jumper wires and tools.
Additionally, the lab has a full complement
of micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and rulers.
Infrared temperature measurement devices, included
optical pyrometers and an infrared cameras
are brought into the lab as needed for demonstration
purposes.
Capital improvement has been performed in
the lab in the last three years. The majority
of the oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal
generators have been replaced with new units.
(Cost of improvement: $3500).
Students: The lab accommodates from 12-18
students at six experimental stations. |
