Fuel
cell technology which includes fuel reforming
for methanol.
Reformate based fuel cell power plants.
Direct-methanol fuel cells for portable power sources.
High-performance fuel research includes:
Ethanol-blended diesel fuel for heavy-duty
diesel engines.
Equipment:
Heavy-duty diesel engine research facility:
~ $100,000.
Fuel cell test station: ~ $20,000, new, acquired in 1999.
High-speed rotating apparatus: ~ $35,000, new, acquired in 1998
Reciprocating tester: ~ $15,000.
Students:
3 undergraduates participating in the establishment
of the fuel cell test station.
4 undergraduates undertaking a fuel cell research project.
6 undergraduates undertaking a heavy-duty diesel engine research project.
