SOLAR ENERGY

LESSON 4

Advantages and Disadvantages of Solar Energy

Advantages

  • Solar energy is pollution free and is a renewable energy which is cost free.
  • In remote places, solar energy is very helpful where there are no easy ways to get eletricity
  • Solar energy is very useful for low power equipments like garden lights and battery chargers.

Disadvantages

  • Solar Energy works only during the day time.
  • Solar power stations are very expensive .Solar cells cost a great deal compared to the amount of electricity they'll produce in their lifetime.
  • Solar energy is very unreliable unless you're in a very sunny climate. In the Great Britan, solar power isn't of much use except for low-power applications, as you need a very large area of solar panels to get a decent amount of power. However, solar energy is worth whilefor the low power applications.
