Welcome to the
Mireya R. Moncada
The purpose of this web page is to provide potential employers, friends, and internet inquisitors with my academic, personal, and professional information.
I am currently a Master of Science in Industrial & Systems Engineering student
at Florida International University,
who is available to work full time on July 1997. I am also interested
in internships which may result in permanent employment.
Academic
I am pursuing a Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Engineering Management concentration, at Florida International University.
My graduation date is on the Fall 1997. I have already
finished all the courses to be taken towards this degree. The
only requirement I need to fulfill is the thesis. For my thesis,
I am developing A Methodology for Effective and Efficient Productivity
Measurement, Evaluation, and Planning in the Fast-Food Service
Industry. I have worked full time throughout more than 75%
of the time while working towards my master's degree. I have a
3.61 GPA, which should not change, because the thesis credits
do not count for GPA (they are P/F credits). For further information,
please e-mail me, MIREMONCADA@HOTMAIL.COM, or my thesis Advisor,
Dr. Martha Centeno, CENTENO@ENG.FIU.EDU
I also have a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Concentration, from the University of Miami. I attended U of M from June 1997 to December 1993. 3.05 GPA. I worked full time (55 hours/week), while I was a full time student at U of M. Projects:
I have an Associate in Arts in Industrial Engineering
from Miami Dade Community College.
2.81 GPA. I attended the college from August 1988 to June 1991,
under a High school Achievement award, which paid 100% of my tuition.
I also worked full time throughout college.
I belong to the following professional organizations:
Personal
My full name is Mireya Rosaura Moncada Bendana. I was born in Managua, Nicaragua on December 20, 1969, from Nicaraguan parents. I started school (pre-kinder) when I was 4 years old; however, I lost two academic years due to the Sandinistas. We were forced to leave my country due to socio-econo-political reasons on January 1985, when I was 15 years old. By that year, I had finished the second year of secondary education, which is about 10th grade. I had also learned how to understand, speak and write English, I was taking classes of German. I had also obtained the degree of Secretaria Ejecutiva (Executive Secretary), which includes Spanish (prosodia, morfologia, sintaxis y ortografia), syllabic shorthand, and typing.
I was forced to go back to 9th grade when
I arrived to the US. Due to circumstances resulting from our forced
emigration, I was forced to work as soon as I turned sixteen.
As soon as I turned eighteen, I began working full time, which
consisted of roughly 55 hours per week. However, my intrinsic
goal was to get a professional degree, regardless of the obstacles.
Professional
After I turned 18 years old, I was quickly promoted
to manager. I used my Industrial Engineering skills
in my job in order to make it more efficient, profitable, and
effective; which led to promotion after promotion. For detailed
information about my work experience, please refer to my resume.
