The mission of the EMC is to provide a vital link between University Activities and the South Florida and Latin American manufacturing communities by establishing a strong commitment to serving the manufacturing industry, training manufacturing engineers and researchers, and developing leading edge manufacturing technology and systems.

The Center's objectives are oriented to providing a platform for local industries to gain access to technologies otherwise unavailable through a service bureau type operation. The Center focuses on becoming a breeding ground for mutually beneficial partnerships with local, regional and Latin American manufacturing industries interested in high tech product development and manufacturing.

The EMC is located in the new Center for Engineering and Applied Sciences at Florida International University. It is easily accessible to local industry and outside visitors, having immediate access to major expressways and being 10 minutes from Miami International Airport. It includes 5700 square feet of equipment, a machine shop and office space.
