| The
Engineering Manufacturing Center
(EMC) is
a fully integrated manufacturing system,
from concept, through prototyping, to finished
hardware or manufactured tool and die assemblies.
With the rapid movement of industry to reduce
time to market from product concept, the Center
has been designed to support local industry
in the South Florida Region and provide an
environment for advanced manufacturing research.
The center contains a design and prototyping
front end, integrated into a CNC machining
facility through to a back end injection molding
machine with injection mold and part fabrication,
both in plastic and metal by spin casting.
The Center is responsible for conducting basic
and applied research in manufacturing processes,
rapid prototyping, electronic fabrication,
process development, production engineering,
manufacturing systems integration, factory
automation, CAD/CAM, concurrent engineering
and internet manufacturing. |
