Your data folder ( H drive as well as
other shared drives) may be accessed
remotely using one of the following
methods ( to Access your files
remotely, you need an internet
connection.
Using FTP services:
The FTP ( File Transfer
Protocol ) service allows you to access
only your H drive through an
internet browser. By going to
ftp://ftp.eng.fiu.edu, you
can do everything you normally do with files and folders, “including
downloading and uploading folders. If you prefer you may use FTP client
software to connect to our server. Please note that FTP is a non secure
protocol.
You will need the following information to establish a remote connection to
the server using FTP:
Server name: ftp.eng.fiu.edu
username: < your EIC account username>
password: <your EIC account password>
Using Internet Explorer:
By
going to http://netstorage.eng.fiu.edu,
you are prompted for the EIC Username
and Password. This allows you to see
your account mappings, including the
H drive. This application lets you do
everything you normally do with folders
and files (move, delete, rename, etc) “except” download
and upload folder. You can download and
upload files, but not folders.
Using
a Web Folder (Win 2K & Win
XP only):
Specific detailed instructions with menu images
This service will allow you to map every
single network drive that you have been
granted access to including your H drive
permanently into your computer. A Web
folder is like a network link that will
communicate you to your data every time
you click on it. To get the instructions
