Dr. Hadi joined the Department in August 2005. He has over 20 years of research and practical experience in a wide variety of transportation engineering areas with emphasis on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), traffic control systems, and simulation modeling. His research interests include ITS hardware and software, vehicle-infrastructure integration (VII), traffic control systems, freeway operations, simulation/dynamic traffic assignment, decision analysis, artificial intelligence, and safety. Dr. Hadi received his doctorate degree from the University of Florida (UF) in 1990. Between 1990 and 1995, he worked as a research faculty at the UF Civil Engine-ering Department where he was responsible for several research and software development projects. This included the development of several versions of the TRANSYT-7F, one of the most widely used signal optimization program. After leaving UF in 1995, Dr. Hadi worked for 10 years as part of transportation engineering teams providing consultant services to public and private agencies from around the nation. His experience has covered all aspects of ITS including the development of ITS architectures, large scale simulation of transportation networks, optimization of transportation systems, development/enhancement of decision support tool, production of ITS concept reports and implementation plans, writing ITS hardware and software device specifications, developing ITS design-build contract documents, researching new ITS technologies and strat- egies, inspection of constructed ITS deployments, and applications of ITS standards. |
