Course Equivalency Procedure
- Get official transcripts from transfer university.
- If transcripts are not in English, transcripts need to be translated into English by Joseph Silny and Associates.
- Submit translated transcripts to FIU Registrar office.
- Keep checking your unofficial transcripts on PantherSoft until you can see your transfer credits posted.
- After transfer credits are posted, get translated course syllabi for the courses you wish to get equivalencies for. Original course syllabi have to officially sealed or stamped by the granting university (Translation made by Joseph Silny and Associates).
- Take the translated course syllabi along with a course equivalency form (obtained from advisor) to the corresponding evaluating FIU department. For example, if you are trying to evaluate MTH 101 Mathematics I from a foreign university to substitute for MAC 2311 Calculus I at FIU, you need to take a translated course description or syllabus for MTH 101 to the Math Department accompanied with the course equivalency form.
- The evaluating FIU department has to examine the course syllabus and approve the equivalency by signing the equivalency form.
- The signed equivalency form must then be returned to the Civil Engineering Advisor who will approve (or disapprove) it, and update the student records.
