Constituencies (DAB)
Programs: Civil Engineering
Environmental Engineering
Degrees: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering
The main constituencies of the Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering Programs, namely, the most direct beneficiaries of the contributions of its graduates are the various sectors of the South Florida community. In fact, most of the graduates remain in the community after their graduation, which directly adds to the human resources of the region. The Department has identified the following main constituencies:
1. FIU alumni
2. Civil/Environmental Engineering Profession (Private Sector)
3. Civil/Environmental Engineering Profession (Public Sector)
4. Parents of FIU Students/Alumni
5. FIU students
6. FIU faculty
A Departmental Advisory Board (DAB) was permanently established whose diverse membership represents alumni, both junior and senior (depending on years since their graduation), Civil Engineering professionals, practitioners in the private sector, practitioners in the government sector, and parents of FIU engineering students from our South Florida community. The DAB has the unique mission of being the Department’s main vehicle for the periodic review of objectives, outcomes, assessment indicators of outcomes, and corrective actions to ensure the achievement of objectives. Members of the DAB were selected by the faculty and appointed by the Chair. The DAB was initiated in August 2001. The names of the current DAB members are listed below; the constituencies that they represent are also included.
