ASCE Student Chapter wins 4 trophies at the 2006 Southeast Regional Conference

The ASCE Student Chapter participated in the 2006 Southeast Regional Conference which took place at the University of Florida, Gainesville during March 29-April 1. The Chapter was awarded four trophies and ranked high in several other competitions including the concrete canoe races.

The trophies were awarded to the FIU’s ASCE Student Chapter in the following categories:

1st Place – T-shirt Design: Representing “Civil engineers enhancing the constructed environment” and “School spirit”

1st Place – Visual Display: Construction of a structure made from food cans representing the Kuwait Water Tower.

3rd Place – Environmental Competition: Design of a concrete cylinder suitable for use as pavement material that would allow permeation of water but not oil to avoid contamination of subsurface.

5th Place – Balsawood Bridge: Loaded 99 lbs.
