Financial
Aid and Scholarships
FIU and the College of Engineering and Computing

and scholarships to qualified students. The amounts
and eligibility requirements of these awards vary

Degree
Requirements
The Doctorate program will consist of at least
78 semester credit hours beyond the baccalaureate
degree (or 48 credits beyond a master's degree),
of which at least 54 credit hours correspond
to course work and 24 credits to dissertation.
PhD students must take a qualifying exam, a
graduate seminar, a comprehensive candidacy
examination, and successfully submit and defend
a dissertation. A minimum 18 credit hours of
residency must be completed within a 12 month
